Introduction

This is my review of the Changi Lounge, which is located within Jewel at Singapore’s Changi Airport, which is on the land side of the airport.

The Jewel is a real staple of Changi Airport (you can see my review of it here), and it makes a lot of sense to have a lounge in Jewel where you can refresh. This especially since, as far as I am aware, no OneWorld carrier has any form of arrivals lounge.

Opening Hours

The lounge is open daily from 06:00 until 22:00.

Entry Conditions

My entry to this lounge was via my Priority Pass. I believe other passes such as Dragon Pass will also get you in.

Paying on the door is also a possibility – there are three pricing points;

$25 (about £15) for 3 hours of access.

$39 (about £23) for 3 hours of access, including a hot meal and a beer (the Priority Pass package)

$50 (about £30) for 3 hours of access, including a hot meal, a beer and a shower

How to Get There

After leaving the Arrivals Hall in Terminal 1, follow the signs to Jewel. Once you’re there, turn left into the ring, and you’ll see the entrance to the Changi Lounge on the right hand side.

Layout

This is a relatively small lounge, however still has very nice decor in it. The lounge has mostly casual seating – seemingly with many travelers sleeping on the sofas.

There is a small bar area, with dining close to it.

There is also a working area, and two meeting rooms. I suspect you probably have to pay extra for the meeting rooms. There is no printer!

Food & Drinks

Drinks

The included drinks in the lounge are soft drinks, from a self-service fridge. There is also a small amount of juices, as well as coffee machines.

If you fancied something a bit more, you can order beers, wines and alcoholic drinks from the bar – but those are paid for, nothing is included.

Priority Pass members do get their first beer included!

Food

Like the drinks, the food is very basic (bordering on primitive). There is a small heated cabinet with things like pastries, then there is some chocolate and nuts – and that’s about it!

If you want to pay, there is a menu of hot meals for around between $10 and $13 (up to £7.50), which in fairness is fairly cheap. But there is a large food hall in Jewel, where you can certainly have more variety – and probably at the same price.

Priority Pass members do get their free hot meal!

Wifi

The wifi in the lounge worked fine for me – although I didn’t stay long, and wasn’t using it with my laptop.

Showers

As I mentioned above, showers are available, but at extra cost. I believe the cost is around $20, which is about £12 – and there is a time limit of 20 minutes!

Even Priority Pass members have to pay for the showers.

Conclusion

Although this lounge does have high-end decor, what you actually get as ‘basic entry’ is, well……pretty basic!

On the one hand, you could argue at just £15 for access (many similar lounges charge closer to £30 or even £45), that what you get is reasonably priced. Comfort and warmth for 3 hours, at around £5 an hour, including all the tea, coffee, soft drinks and snacks you can consume.

On the other hand, Priority Pass members do seem to get the thinner end of the wedge. Although one beer and one hot food item is included; I can’t say I’d be too happy about paying extra for another beer or a shower – when those basic things should be included in any lounge access. This especially when sneakily showers are advertised on the Priority Pass website, but it’s not explained there is a charge.

I actually don’t think it’s bad value for £15 or even £23, if you’ve nowhere else to go. But if you’ve access to other lounges on air side and a long layover – you may want to think about checking in early, and showering where its free!
