Terminal 1, Frankfurt Airport, Germany
Neil Scrivener reviews the Lufthansa Business Class Lounge by Gate A13 in Frankfurt’s Airport (FRA).
Introduction
This is my review of the Lufthansa Lounge in Terminal 1 of Frankfurt’s Airport, which is in the A-Gates area.
There are two Lufthansa lounges in A-gates, this one and the Panorama Room by Gate A26. Both of these lounges are in the Schengen area – where as B-Gates are outside the Schengen zone.

Entry Conditions
I am still getting my head around how Star Alliance’s policies work, however in essence;
- Flying Business Class or First Class grants access (no companion allowed)
- Star Alliance Gold Members in any class (with a companion, who has to be on the SAME flight)
- You can pay between €25 and €50 for access
There is also a separate Senator Lounge, which is open to Star Alliance Gold members, or passengers flying First Class.
I’m still getting my head around Star Alliance’s tiering – but it seems unlike BA whose lounge access starts at Silver, lounge access on Star Alliance is Gold and above.
Opening Times
The lounge is open daily between 06:00 and 21:30.
How to Get There
This is quite easy to find!
When you go through Security, you’ll find the lounge pretty much straight in front of you.
Alternatively, the lounge is close to Gate A13.
Layout
This isn’t a small lounge, but it isn’t huge either.
There is a whole bunch of sofa/casual seating, some dining seating, and some high-table seating – and that is pretty much it.
One thing the Lufthansa have thought well about is those who will be working – and you can find a desk with work stations (and an uncomfortable stool), as well as a couple of telephone booths.
Food and Drink
Drinks
All of the drinks in this lounge are self-service.
There is an average range of of soft drinks, German beers, spirits and wines. As I’ve written about other lounges in Frankfurt, there is the rollout of alcohol free beer – which is really good, and helps when driving the other end!
Food
Anyone who knows me, knows I have my reservations about German cooking, in particular in German lounges.
The food was……well…….a but “meh” with some hot dishes, pastas, breads, and other items. It’s no real different to a Priority Lounge in my opinion,
A couple of other nice features about the lounge was a hot dog cart (if you like German hot dogs….) and a small sweet bar.
Wifi
I found the Wifi in the lounge to be fast and reliable for what I needed it to do – so no complaints there.
Showers
I was surprised (in a good way) to find there were showers in the lounge – often it’s something that’s overlooked in domestic/short-haul lounges.
Having just landed from the Middle East, and it being about 28 degrees outside – I decided to freshen up!
The shower was nice in quality, and was hot – however, the towels were tiny and a very thin – so it wasn’t the most luxury airline lounge shower experience I’ve ever had!
Conclusion
This is an OK lounge. I am going to make concessions for the fact it’s in the Schengen Zone – thus perhaps more targeted for domestic/EU travelers, rather than to far-flung destinations.
The drinks offering was good, the food was….well….German, the showers disappointing, and the layout of the lounge fair.
It’s a good place to spend a few hours waiting for a flight or a layover – but it’s no different to Priority Pass level of lounges, which is a fairly low bar.
