Terminal 2, Heathrow Airport

Based on Visit: 15 May 2022 approximately 16:00 to 18:00

Introduction

This is my review of the United Airlines United Club at Heathrow’s Terminal 2.

I’d heard really good things about this lounge, and I was really impressed on an all-round basis! Great work United!

Entry Conditions

This Lounge is available to Star Alliance Gold Members and passengers traveling in Business Class (or higher) with either United – or other Star Alliance partners.

At Heathrow’s Terminal 2, entry could be for passengers traveling on Singapore Airlines, United or Air Canada from the B-Zone – or if you fancied the walk TAP, Swiss, Lufthansa, etc who fly from A-Gates.

Opening Times

The lounge is open daily from 05:00 to 18:00, but will be open slightly later if any United flights are delayed.

How to Get There

The lounge is situated in B-Zone for Terminal 2, which means if your flight is from A-zone it will be walk of around 15 to 20 minutes each way, officially. In reality, I’ve done it in about 8 minutes!

With that said, this and the Air Canada and Singapore Airlines lounges are by far superior to the Lufthansa lounge in A-Zone – so I recommend that the walk is well worth it if you have enough time!

Having gone through Security, take the escalators down to the Departures level.

As you’re looking at the big glass in front of you, on the left hand of the terminal is the walkway to B-Zone.

Once you’re at B-Zone, take the escalators up to the Departures floor – you’ll need to continue straight forward sort of rightish towards Gate B36 – and you’ll find the entrance on the left. You’ll then take an elevator up to the lounge.

Once out of the elevator, straight ahead you’ll find the check in desks.

Layout

I was immediately impressed by the layout of the United Lounge – it was really very good indeed! The décor was also excellent, light, airy and on brand!

The lounge itself is split into a number of ‘zones’, with a variety of seating – casual, dining, sofas, etc.

There are also a number of high-tables and ‘work stations’ with charging, perfect for some laptop work.

The lounge also features side rooms. One side room was with the toilets.

Another side room was around 8 ‘booths’ with doors – perfect for calls and working quietly.

The layout is great and well thought about, whatever you want to use the lounge for.

Food and Drink

Food

All food in the lounge is self-service, but there was an excellent variety of food.

There were a number of hot options available, which included;

  • Chicken thighs
  • Cottage pie
  • Vegan chilli
  • Potatoes
  • Rice
  • Vegetables

Although I am neither vegetarian or vegan, it was nice to see that this had been catered for.

If you prefer something lighter, there was a ‘build your own salad’ station, complete with breadsticks, croutons, oils and the other accessories you may want!

Alternatively, there were a number of sandwiches, cold meat and cheese offerings – again there were some vegan options considered.

There was a whole station of sweets, with cookies, brownies and other pastries.

Interestingly, it seemed both United and Singapore Airlines had gone to the same suppler for their Wimbledon dressing kits! However United was far more expansive – including strawberries and cream, scones and other seasonal foods – it was really good!

Drinks

For drinks, there are self-service stations around for tea, coffee and soft drinks.

If you fancy something stronger there is a huge bar – and they literally have everything you could imagine! I counted at least 10 different types of beer.

Wifi

Wifi was available in the lounge and worked perfectly.

Showers

Another ‘side room’ is a whole corridor of showers – there must be at least 8. One thing I really liked was that in the ‘shower corridor’ there are a series of amenities – whatever you may need!

I’d had a pretty hectic day and chose to use the shower. The décor and quality of the shower room was absolutely excellent!

The shower was really hot, with great water pressure. No complaints there!

Conclusion

This is undoubtably one of my favourite lounges at Heathrow.

It has a nice modern décor, a good layout, a well thought about series of ‘zones’, great food (quality and variety) – and great showers.

I can’t wait to go back!
