Terminal 3, Heathrow Airport
Introduction
This is my review of the American Airlines Arrivals Lounge in Heathrow’s Terminal 3.
Although this is a modest size of lounge, it’s truly excellent and one of the best arrivals lounges I’ve been in!
Opening Hours
The lounge is open daily from 06:30 to 15:30 – which is roughly when most of the American Airlines flights land into London, unless you arrive on the 10pm from JFK.
Entry Conditions
Dealing with the easy one first – the lounge is open to all travelers traveling with American Airlines in First or Business Class.
I also believe the lounge is open to OneWorld Sapphire or Emerald members – for example those flying with British Airways or Qantas.
With that said, I did hear a rumor that Cathay Pacific hadn’t renewed their contract with AA – so it may be the case that access is subjective.
How to Get There
After you are through baggage reclaim and in the arrivals area, make a right and you’ll see some elevators and a clearly signposted “Arrivals Lounge”.
Head up to Level 3 (I think) or the signposted level for the arrivals lounges.
When the elevator opens, you’ll see the entrance in front of you.
Layout
This lounge is modest in size, as are most lounges, but this didn’t really matter, as when I visited it was relatively quiet.
The layout of the lounge is generally casual seating, and some dining seating.
That’s pretty much it!
Food and Drink
Drinks
Drinks were mostly self-service, but there were some options such as Bloody Marys and Champagne available for order.
I am going to assume that the menu is a consistent throughout the day.
Food
When I arrived at the lounge the self-service food was breakfast-led. However, I am going to assume that this was because I was there in the morning and there will be some changeover around 12pm for something more lunch-based, before the lounge closes at 15:30.
Alternatively, there is a small menu with a range of food that can be ordered – again, this was generally breakfast led.
Wifi
The Wifi worked for me, and was fairly good during my visit, I was getting around 40mps up and down.
Showers
This lounge has a WHOPPING 29 showers in it! I don’t think I’ve ever seen an Arrivals Lounge with so many showers before!
The showers were really nice and modern – and had any products or amenities you might need waiting for you.
Conclusion
This is an excellent arrivals lounge!
It has a good range of food, nice decor – and more showers than you can ever need!
Well done American Airlines!
