Terminal 5, Heathrow Airport

Based on Visit: 1 January 2022 approx. 1:15pm to 1:45pm

Introduction

This is a review of my visit to the Plaza Premium Lounge at Heathrow’s Terminal 5. Plaza Premium is one of the ‘paid lounges’ at Heathrow’s Terminal 5 – there is also the Club Aspire Lounge, if you can’t get into the BA Lounges. It’s not a huge lounge, and a bit of a broom cupboard compared to BA’s sizable lounges – however it’s still pretty good!

I went to this lounge because I was fed up with the food choice and quality in BA’s Galleries First lounge and thought I’d try something different!

The Plaza Lounge in Heathrow’s Terminal 2 is extremely good, so I had high hopes for this.

Entry Conditions

I was able to access this Lounge because I have a Platinum Amex card, however you can also get into the lounge on Priority Pass – and possibly a Citi card. You can also pay around £30 for entry. It’s a little complicated how you can get into the Plaza Lounge in T5 in terms of memberships – so well worth checking the website and/or checking with your bank.

Opening Times

The lounge is open daily between 05:30 and 21:30.

How to Get There

In order to get there you are best following the signs for Gate A1. Once through security you’ll need to go down escalators, and head to the North end of the Terminal.

Once you’re at the North end, it is tucked just behind Weatherspoons.

Layout

I have to be fair and say this is a small and fairly basic lounge – it’s perhaps what you may expect given BA own the terminal.

There are various types of seating (dining and lounge) and a self-service buffet.

There is also a bar, which has a variety of drinks. Because I was in a bit of a rush, I didn’t investigate the bar fully – often in these types of lounges they have basic drinks and you pay for ‘premium’ drinks – but I didn’t happen to notice in this case.

Food and Drink

Food

Food wise they had rice, some chicken curry dish, bean tagine (again) and a few other dishes. They also had a crumble. It was all self-service from the buffet.

More importantly, they had fresh bread, crackers, cheese, butter and cookies!!! Perfect!!!

This is all I wanted, something a bit ‘home comfort’ than some fancy rubbish or £1 pizzas from BA’s offering in Galleries First.

I was very happy with my selection!

By no means is this gourmet style food, nor is it of any particularly amazing quality – the Plaza Premium Lounge in Terminal 2 does this perfectly. But it’s acceptable, given they are in effect renting a broom cupboard in T5.

Wifi

I have to be honest, I didn’t use the wifi on this occasion. However, I have used it previously and had no issues at all.

Showers

There is, I believe, a single shower. I didn’t use it or see it as I was tight for time. Maybe another time I’ll grab a picture of it!

Conclusion

This is a great little lounge if you don’t have BA status to get you into a lounge.

It has a small range of food, but still something for everyone, and was fairly quiet when I went in. It’s well worth paying a visit to!
