Introduction

This is my review of the very good Marhaba Lounge in Singapore’s Changi Airport‘s Terminal 1. I’d previously reviewed the Marhaba Lounge in Terminal 3 – but this lounge is undeniably much better!

The reason for my visit it here is a bit of a long story, but in short, the Qantas First and Qantas Business lounges close at 23:00, and I was staying in the airport later – and it seems there is a deal with Qantas and Marhaba when Qantas’ lounges close.

Opening Hours

The lounge is open daily from 05:00 to 01:00.

Entry Conditions

I was able to gain entry to the lounge (I think) by being a OneWorld member, and other lounges being closed. Seemingly there are a number of airlines with ‘deals’ with this lounge including JAL, Qantas, FinnAir and Air France.

I believe access is also available for those with a Priority Pass, Dragon Pass and a Platinum American Express.

Additionally, I believe you can pay around $45 on the door for access.

How to Get There

Taking a right out of Passport Control, you’ll see some escalators, with the Marhaba and Qantas First lounge signposted.

Take the escalators and at the top you’ll make a right hand turn, walk past the Qantas First Lounge, and the Marhaba will be straight in front of you.

Layout

The lounge has a large amount of casual seating with low tables, pretty much all the low seating areas have charging for phones or laptops.

There is a fairly large dining area, which has dining tables and high tables for working. Again, pretty much all the tables have charging for phones or laptops.

Food and Drink

Drinks

All drinks in the lounge are self-service, with stations of coffee machines and fridges dotted around. A selection of soft drinks, juices, beers and wines were available – including one of my favourite beers, Tiger!

Food

The food in the lounge is also self-service. In sort of line a canteen-style arrangement there trays, and you go across and select what you want.

The food was fairly wide-ranging on my visit from fruit, cheeses, breads, chicken satays, curries and rice. All in all it was a decent selection of food.

Wifi

The wifi was extremely fast and reliable, I had no issues connecting or using it.

Showers

There are some showers in this lounge. Whether you have to pay for them or not, I am not sure. However, I didn’t use the showers.

Conclusion

Singapore’s Changi Airport has some really excellent lounges. As a Priority Pass lounge goes, this is undeniably one of the best in the I’ve visited.

The lounge may not be quite ‘up there’ with the Qantas, Qatar or BA lounges, but that’s because those lounges are excellent in their own right – and they’re catering to a different standard.

With that said, this is definitely one lounge worth a visit!
