Neil Scrivener reviews the Royal Jordanian Crown Lounge in Amman’s Queen Alia International Airport, accessed by through OneWorld membership or flying Business Class.

Queen Alia International Airport, Amman, Jordan

Introduction

This is my review of the Royal Jordanian Crown Lounge, which is located airside at Amman International Airport. The lounge is located on the mezzanine balcony, next to and opposite the Marhaba Lounge.

Royal Jordanian are based in Ammam Airport, so this in many ways would be their flagship lounge.

Entry Conditions

My understanding that access can be granted by:

  • Flying Business Class with Royal Jordanian
  • OneWorld Sapphire Membership
  • OneWorld Emerald Membership
  • Flying Business Class with another partner member

If in doubt, there is an extensive list below of which airlines have partnered with Royal Jordanian for access – and not all of them are OneWorld members!

Opening Times

The lounge is open 24hrs daily.

How to Get There

This is very easy to find!

Once you’re through Security and out of Duty Free, walk straight ahead towards McDonalds.

With the big M sign in front of you, look behind you and you’ll see the entrance to the Crown Lounge and the elevators taking you up.

Layout

The Layout of this lounge has two ‘sides’ to it. Luckily there is a helpful sign to help you find your way!

In short, take a left if you want a lounge area and some more cafe-style food and drinks. Or take a right for a restaurant area and bar.

Starting with the area on the left – this is very much a lounge area, which has casual seating and some tables for eating at.

There are also a couple of really nice working areas – although I didn’t see a printer!

Over on the right hand side of the lounge (which butts up to the Marhaba Lounge), there is more of a restaurant/dining area and a bar.

And that is pretty much it!

Food and Drink

Drinks

Although Jordan is a Muslim country, like Dubai’s airport lounges it serves alcohol – Stella seemed to be the flavour of the day!

Seemingly alcoholic drinks were available from the bar only, which is on the ‘right’ of the lounge. Meanwhile on the ‘left’ of the lounge were soft drinks and a barista service.

Food

On the ‘left’ side of the lounge was a number of ‘snacky’ things. This includes an ice cream parlor and pizzeria. There also some self-service pastries and other food bits.

On the ‘right’ side of the lounge is a buffet area, offering a number of different foods. Even at breakfast time (I don’t do breakfast), there was a variety of salad items, curries, etc.

Wifi

The Wifi in the lounge I found to be reliable and fast. I had quite a few work things to do, and the Wifi was perfect for that purpose!

Showers

There are showers in this lounge, it had been a bit of a long flight from Riyadh after a bit of a long day before – so I didn’t visit them on this occasion.

Conclusion

Royal Jordan are one of the smaller OneWorld carriers (similar to SirLankan) – despite this, I thought this was a great lounge, with a creative offering of food and drink and plenty of places to sit/eat/work.
