Introduction
This is my review of the Templehof Lounge at Brandenburg, which is operated by Berlin Airport.
Brandenburg is mostly a domestic airport, with a few flights operating to Doha (Qatar Airways), Newark (United) and JFK (Delta) – plus a few others to India and China; so this may not be the international lounge you’d expect from certain international airlines.

Opening Hours
The lounge is open daily from 05:00 until 21:30
Entry Conditions
My entry to this lounge was via my OneWorld Emerald membership.
Otherwise, access is available to OneWorld members with Sapphire status – and of course flying Business Class with British Airways. Other OneWorld Carriers are also allowed in – including FinnAir, Qatar Airways and Iberia.
Seemingly this is also the (only?) lounge for other airlines such as United, Delta, United and the like in their Business Class offerings.
You can also pay to enter, but I don’t know how much.
How to Get There
After Security, you’ll be on the ‘Schengen side’, from here take a walk to Gate D20.
Just next to D20, you’ll see a glass door – from here it’s steps or the elevator.
Layout
This is a fairly spacious lounge, which is light and airy.
Over towards the buffet area, there is some tables (high and low) for working and/or eating.
Then……there is the magic door!
This is the door for ‘international’ departures, which flying to from Germany to the UK now counts as. Behind the door is an exclusive passport stamping kiosk just for lounge users. I suspect with a Boeing 767 of United passengers this could get busy at time – but for my BA flight back to the UK there was no queue.
Food & Drinks
Drinks
The drinks in this lounge are all self-sevice.
Available is a range of soft drinks, coffee machines, wines, spirits, and of course German beer! There was a decent range of drinks, I thought – and given I was driving the other end, I decided to try the generous options of alcohol free German beer, which was well considered.
Food
Ok……anyone who has read my other posts about German airports and German airlines will know: I don’t think German cooking is great!
Perhaps, in typically German fashion, I was entirely un-surprised by the food options available.
Salads, some cheese, some curry stuff, some other slop – and more bread and pretzels than you could ever handle. That was pretty much the catering order of the day. For me, as someone who loves pretzels, I had no issue with it – and sweet bar was nice too…… But it’s not quite Qatar Airways fine dining!
Wifi
Initially getting on the Wifi was a bit of a mystery, as there were no instructions in English. However, I eventually found the Wifi in this lounge to be pretty fast and reliable.
Showers
Surprisingly, there are showers in this lounge – but they charge for the use, despite being a Business Class lounge! I was given a figure of €15 – which I thought charging at all in a Business Class lounge is not appropriate.
Conclusion
As far as a short-haul lounge goes, in Germany…..this is probably about all you can expect. German beer, stodgy food – but well thoughts about logistics.
If you’re used to Qatar Airways’ or United Airlines’ high quality style of lounges……..you may be a bit disappointed!
Also, charging for a shower to Business Class customers is just cheeky, I think!
