Schengen Area, Terminal 2, Copenhagen Airport, Denmark

Introduction

This is my review of the SAS Business Class Lounge which is situated on the Schengen side of Copenhagen’s Kastrup Airport.

Since this is located on the Schengen side, it is important (!) that you allow enough time for to pass through Passport Control, if you are traveling to a Non-Schengen destination.

The lounge is split between the SAS Business Class Lounge and SAS Gold Lounge – ostensibly the latter is for Star Alliance Gold Members.

Opening Hours

Opening hours to this lounge are neither set, nor that clear!

Apparently it closes 30 minutes prior to the last SAS flight to leave Copenhagen. Whether this means Star Alliance or SAS I am not sure – not am I sure when it opens!

Entry Conditions

As I mentioned above, this lounge is split – for SAS Business Class and SAS Gold Members.

Access to the part I was in, is available for travelers flying Business Class with SAS – or presumably Star Alliance Gold members too.

The Gold Lounge is only available to SAS EuroBonus Diamond members and Star Alliance Gold members.

I may be wrong, but I don’t believe there are Credit Cards or cash prices for access.

How to Get There

After Security take a left and you’ll eventually come across it after the shopping area.

Gate C10 is probably the closest pointer I could give. It’s pretty much opposite the Passport Control area for Non-Schengen flights.

Layout

As I mentioned above, the lounge is split into two. To enter the Business Class Lounge, you’ll use an automated barrier, which takes you to a holding area – in this case all the desks were unattended.

From there you’ll find a large area of very high quality casual seating – Scandinavian style (of course), at the ‘front’ of the lounge.

For working/purching/drinking, there is also a large amount of high-table seating.

Walking through to the ‘back’ of the lounge, you’ll pass an office area, which has a printer and plenty of desks for working. This was an area which highly impressed me.

Towards the back of the lounge there is more casual seating, overlooking the apron of the airport.

There are also two Board Rooms seating 12, which can be hired for about 600dkk (€80) per hour.

Food and Drink

Drinks

Throughout the lounge there are a series of drinks stations, offering beers, wines and soft drinks.

Whilst there was a small range of wines, most of the drinks available were pushing on the Carlsberg side – which tastes great in Copenhagen!

Food

Food is served from the ‘front’ of the lounge,

The good was sort of OK – but I understand much better food is offered in the Gold Lounge.

On offer in this lounge was:

  • Crips and peanuts
  • Soups
  • Bread
  • Cheese
  • Salad

That was pretty much it! Fine for a short European hop – but probably not ideal before a transatlantic flight.

Wifi

I found the Wifi here to be pretty good, with no speed issues at all.

Showers

Showers are available in the lounge – but I didn’t get a look at them! Perhaps next time!

Conclusion

Having visited the Aspire Lounge and the Carlsberg Aviator Lounge which are also in the Schengen Zone, I found this lounge to be of a much higher standard in terms of its offerings.

Of course, this is an Airline-operated lounge, so standards to tend to be somewhat higher.

Food could be a little more extensive – but I understand that Copenhagen isn’t quite a huge gateway internationally, and many passengers would by flying within Europe.

All in all a good lounge, great decor and layout, and good food and drink choices.
