Introduction

This is my review of the Dublin’s East Lounge, which I visited on my trip to Abu Dhabi.

With exception of the Aer Lingus Lounge, I believe I’ve now visited all of Dublin’s lounges! You can find reviews here.

This lounge actually is accessible to just four airlines; Egypt Air, Etihad, Emirates and Qatar Airways. No other Alliances, Business Class nor Priority Pass holders are admitted – I’d previously tried as a BA Gold Card holder.

Opening Hours

The lounge opening times are as follows;

Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday: 05:30 to 14:30 and then 18:30 to 21:30.

Tuesday, Friday and Saturday: 06:00 to 14:30 and then 18:30 to 21:30.

Entry Conditions

As I mentioned above the lounge actually is accessible to just four airlines; Egypt Air, Etihad, Emirates and Qatar Airlines.

If you’re flying in Business Class or First Class with those airlines, you have access.

What happens with Status holders with those airlines? I’m not sure, as it’s not available as a OneWorld lounge despite Qatar Airways using it.

How to Get There

From Terminal 1, follow the signs to Terminal 2 taking a walk down a very long corridor.

From Terminal 2, follow the signs to Terminal 1 taking a walk down a very long corridor.

At some point, you’ll find it – you can’t miss it!

Layout

This isn’t a huge lounge, but the décor is really high end and I can see why middle-eastern airlines like it.

As you walk in you find yourself in a sort of dining area.

Continue straight, and on your left you’ll see some ‘pods’. I really didn’t rate these pods. The tables were tiny, and the ‘bench’ was not doing my back any favours after working at it for an hour!

On the right hand side, there is causal seating overlooking the apron of the airport.

There is also some high-table seating for working.

If you’re an American, there is seating at the bar, if you must!

Food and Drink

In a word, I’d the food describe this as poor.

Despite the likes of Etihad, Emirates and Qatar being premium airlines, there was no hot food offering in the lounge whatsoever!

Instead, it was a limited amount of self-service food, which I wasn’t really fussed about. Even the cold options weren’t great either.

Drinks on the other hand were good. Alcoholic drinks are served from the bar, where there was a good (if not slightly extensive) range of beers, wines and champagne.

Soft drinks were taken from the top of the buffet bar (warm), or use of the self-service coffee machines.

Wifi

I did use the Wifi, but it was pretty slow for me. At least unlike the lounge down the corridor it actually has a Network!

Showers

Surprisingly, there was a shower – and it did have a hint of luxury to it.

I didn’t use it, but it looked good, and the décor in the shower room was continued premium.

Conclusion

I standby my comment that Dublin really doesn’t have any good lounges – even the lounge on the ‘US side’ isn’t that good.

This lounge is lovely in its décor, bar, seating and even showers – but if I was flying with one of the big premium middle eastern carriers, I’d be very disappointed with the food.

Lucky, as I review on my Etihad flight to Abu Dhabi, the food on the plane was excellent!
