Terminal 2, Dublin Airport (pre-US Clearance side)

Introduction

This is my review of the 51^st & Green Lounge on the US pre-clearance side at Dublin Airport.

This is quite an interesting Lounge, as it’s the only lounge available after the US border of Dublin.

Opening Hours

The lounge is open Monday to Sunday from 07:15 to 16:00.

Entry Conditions

The lounge is available Business Class (or higher) passengers traveling on the flights to the USA. In Dublin this would account for airlines such as American, Delta, United – and of course Ireland’s flag carrier Aer Lingus.   

The lounge is operated by the airport – so there is no lounge pass access.

It is possible to pay to get in – the cost is €29 in advance, or €39 on the day.

How to Get There

Once you’re through the US border, head all the way to the end of the Terminal to Gate 406. Once you’re there, you will see the entrance.

Layout

On any view, to service carriers such as the three big US and also Aer Lingus – this is a fairly modest sized lounge. On my visit, I found it difficult to find anywhere to sit to work – and it’s also hard to take photos of!

Mainly, the lounge is arranged with a series of ‘pods’ with low tables.

There is a small amount of high-table seating and a modestly sized dining area.

Unfortunately, I didn’t find anywhere to work, or quiet enough to take calls. This combined with the lack of seating and mostly low-table seating isn’t ideal for working from.   

Food and Drink

Drinks

Starting with the drinks. There is a modest sized bar, but it has a surprising range of beers, wines and cocktails – all included. 

There is of course Guinness!

Soft drinks, tea and coffee are all self-served using the machines or in the fridges.

Food

I’d got to the lounge around lunchtime and the self-service food was mostly curries, with rice and naan bread. Great for me – but there wasn’t much else!

There was a ‘salad’ bar with a few options – but again, fairly limited options.

For sweets, there is also a limited amount of cakes – but my favourite was the donut wall!

The food here is fair, but given that it’s there to serve all airlines – I’m not sure that say compared to the United Club in London’s Heathrow – it’s even close to the same standard.

Wifi

Unfortunately, the Wifi, I found to be very slow – and in the end gave up using it.  

Showers

I believe there are a total of two showers in this lounge. They appeared in nice condition, but I didn’t use them.

Conclusion

Given that this is the only lounge on the ‘US-side’ of Dublin, there isn’t much other choice!

It’s a good lounge – not terrible, but not great. It has showers, which a bonus! 

Everything was ‘OK’ – but with no other choice – it’s difficult to complain!
