Terminal 1 (Concourse D), Dubai International Airport

Introduction

This is my review of the Ahlan First Class Lounge in Dubai’s Terminal 1, in Concourse D.

Although I am yet to review them – I’ve been to all of the OneWorld/Priority Pass lounges in Terminal 1 of Dubai’s International Airport, and this is my favourite lounge!

Opening Hours

I believe this lounge is 24 hours – although the website is rather unclear!

Entry Conditions

There are two Ahlan lounges – this one and the Ahlan Business Lounge.

As I understand it, Ahlan First Class is open to airlines (expect Emirates) with First Class: this includes Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Qatar Airlines, and Air France.

The lounge is also open to American Express Platinum members.

Otherwise, you can also pay to enter!

How to Get There

Once through Security you’ll be taking a train to Concourse D.

Once off the train and on the shopping level, take a walk through to the shopping area – and pick an escalator.

I suggest the escalator to your right (with the train behind you) – but taking the one on the left you can walk around the balcony, and you’ll find the lounge.

If you’ve understood my terrible directions, you should see the lounge! If not – it’s pretty well sign-posted!

Layout

This lounge is pretty big, and it has lots of areas.

Walking through from reception to the main lounge you’ll pass the Prayer Room and the Smoking Room.

You’re then find yourself in the large dining area.

Through the dining area you’ll find an impressive bar and some casual seating areas – including the classic massage chair!

There is also a resting/relaxing area too.

The only small thing I thought was missing is a business area – but you can easily do this in any of the areas, and I am sure the front desk will help with any printing.

Food and Drink

Drinks

There are a number of ways to grab a drink. One is through the bar, another via the extensive menu (which can be ordered form on QR code), and another via some the self-service areas.

Whilst there is a good range of drinks, the Champagne offering (you can always tell a good lounge by the price of Champagne is services) was Conte Brut at a rather amusing £13/bottle to buy!

Food

The food was also extremely good in quality.

Again, a menu option was available (order via QR code) – or alternatively plenty of self-service items. The self-service items include a range of healthy stuff, pastries, cheese, meats – and trollies of dates.

Breakfast isn’t my thing, but there was plenty of options for me.

Wifi

The Wifi worked for me, and was fairly good during my visit, I was getting around 32mps up and down.

Showers

There are around 6 showers in this lounge.

The showers were of great quality, and had some high-end products in them – however no Dyson hairdryers!

Conclusion

This is my favourite lounge in Dubai’s Terminal 3. Admittedly, I’ve only ever been to Concourse D and not experienced the lounges by Emirates – but I found this lounge to be excellent.

It’s also fantastic that American Express’ allow access, with their Priority Pass offering access in the Ahlan Business Lounge.

So, make sure if you do have a Platinum Card, you go to this and not the Ahlan Business!
