Opening Hours

The lounge is open daily from 06:00 to 22:00.

Entry Conditions

Entry to the lounge is can be via Priority Pass, or American Express Platinum Card. Possibly other passes such as Dragon Pass gain you access, but I am not 100% sure.

It is also possible to pay to access the lounge on the door for 3 hours, at a cost of €45.

How to Get There

This lounge is located on Level 3, opposite Gate E8.

You’ll find the entrance to the lounge, which is well signposted.

Similar to Singapore‘s Changi Airport, the Lounges are located after Passport Control, but before Security. This means that you will need to allow some time after leaving the lounge to go through security. It’s fairly quick, but still (in my view) annoying to have to do.

Layout

This lounge was the quieter of Priority Pass lounges when I visited, although was fairly busy.

There are no real ‘areas’ to the lounge – it is a large and open space with sofa and high table seating.

In some ways the lounge reminded me of an saloon style bar with its decor (minus the sawdust) – but it was mostly clean, and generally fine.

If you’re looking for a business centre, an area to do work, or a place for a quiet call – then there is unfortunately nowhere in this lounge to do it!

Food and Drink

Drinks

The drinks in this lounge were a little puzzling.

There was the usual self-serve coffee machines and fridges full of drinks, including beers and wines.

Also, at the back of the lounge is a bar – however, despite standing there for 5 minutes nobody came to serve me. Likewise, in the hour or so I was in the lounge, nobody proactively stood behind the bar to take orders. So perhaps this is just there for aesthetic purposes?

Food

I’ve said this many many times on this blog, but Germans are not renowned for their abilities to cook……and this is a good example of precisely that.

A series of random salad bits, a tall fridge full of cheese a butter, some dry bread, a tough waffles and a jar of melting cookies was the best catering on offer here…. That said, there were pretzels, which were fresh and very nice!

In many ways this is sort of typical of ‘Priority Pass standard’ food wherever you go…..so unsurprising really.

Wifi

Wifi in the lounge did work, and was fine for what I needed to do – which was a few emails, etc. I didn’t find it the fastest.

Showers

There are showers in this lounge, but the lounge wanted €15 for the privilege. The Priority Lounge next door offered free showers – so I took one in there.

With that said, judging from the pictures on the website, the showers in the Primeclass Lounge are much nicer!

Neil Scrivener reviews the Primeclass Priority Lounge in Frankfurt Airport (FRA), also available to American Express Platinum Card members.

Conclusion

I always find that Priority Lounges are hit and miss…. This lounge one way or another is about typical of a Priority Pass lounge. It has OK food, OK drinks, charged for a shower, the layout was OK – but nothing ‘luxury’ – and what happened to the bartender is anyone’s guess.

This lounge is neither hit or miss I’d say. However, if I paid €45 cash to get in, and I needed a shower (at another €15) – I may be thinking of better ways to invest my €60!
