Hong Kong International Airport, Hong Kong
Neil Scrivener reviews Cathay Pacific’s The Deck, in Hong Kong’s International Airport (HKG).
Introduction
This is my review of The Deck lounge by Cathay Pacific.
Hong Kong’s International Airport boasts many exceptional lounges including The Wing and The Pier operated by Cathay Pacific – in fact, in my view these are easily some of the best lounges in the world!
The Deck is another exceptional lounge by Cathay Pacific, located close to Gate 6 – and far closer than The Pier lounges – which are Gate 63!

Opening Hours
The lounge is open daily from 05:30 to 00:30.
Entry Conditions
The lounge is open to both those flying First Class and Business Class with any OneWorld airline, and of course Cathay Pacific.
Access can also be obtained if you are a OneWorld Emerald or OneWorld Sapphire Member.
It may be possible to get into the lounge by other means, such as credit cards or paying to enter – but I am not sure on this!
How to Get There
Hong Kong’s airport can be a bit of mess to navigate – it’s very long and has lots of gates vey far from eachother.
Once you’re out of Security take a right heading towards Gate 6.
Eventually you’ll see some Escalators. Head up these and you’ll see the entrance to the lounge in front of you.

Layout
This lounge has many similarities to the lounge at Heathrow…….or probably more accurately the other way around!
There is plenty of casual and sofa seating for relaxing.

There is also some high-table seating for dining and working. I didn’t spot a printer, but I’ve no doubt the very amenable staff would print anything you may need.

There is of course the classing dining room.

And if you want somewhere to sleep or relax, there is a quiet area.

Food and Drink
Drinks
All of the drinks I could see were self-service. This included a range of wines, beers and soft drinks. There are also self-service coffee machines.

Food
Classically most people choose to eat in the dining room/noodle bar.
Here you can find a range of traditional Chinese food, such as noodles, dim sum and other Asian specialities. You’re given a buzzer when you place your order, and when it buzzes you collect your order.

If you want something less Chinese there is a self-service counter with things like curries, cheese, breads, etc.

Wifi
I found the Wifi in the lounge to be very fast and reliable, which was great.
Showers
This lounge does have showers. Sadly, I was in a bit of a rush, as I wanted to visit the Pier, and they are located at Gate 63/65……and I was at Gate 6……
I believe the showers look similar those at Heathrow, which look something like this:

Conclusion
I’ve never visited a Cathay Pacific Lounge that hasn’t been exceptional.
The food and drinks are certainly more limited compared to The Wing and The Pier lounges – but this is still truly and excellent lounge!
Sadly, Hong Kong is spoilt by Cathay’s excellent lounges – so it’s very hard to select one lounge and stay there!
