Concourse B, Washington Dulles International

Introduction

This is my review of the Turkish Airways Lounge in Washington Dulles’ Concourse B.

This is similar to the British Airways lounge in Concourse B – but this lounge doesn’t seem to throw you out at 2pm!

Opening Hours

The lounge is open daily from 07:30 to 22:30.

Entry Conditions

The lounge is available to all Star Alliance Gold card holders, for passengers flying on Star Alliance carriers in Business Class – or of course passengers flying Business Class with Turkish Airlines.

Alternatively, the lounge is open to Priority Pass members.  

How to Get There

For general reference, it’s opposite Gate B43.

The AeroTrain at IAD, that goes between the terminals, doesn’t go in a loop. So, depending on where you are, may depend which stop you get off at!

From the Main Terminal, it is probably easier to catch the AeroTrain to B-Gates. From here, up the escalator you will see the lounge sort of in front of you.

If you’ve landed from C or D Gates, you may prefer to get off at A-Gates and walk through to B-Gates. In which case, you’ll find the lounge on the right-hand side, after quite a long walk!   

Whether it’s quicker to take the Aerotrain or walk, I’m, not sure!

Another option, if you fancy doing something different – is to take the Mobile Lounge from D-Gates to A-Gates or even Z-Gates and walk. This is quite a novelty if you’ve not done it before!

Layout

I think it’s fair to say this lounge is modest in size!

As you walk into the lounge you’ll find yourself immediately in a dining area, with self-service food and drink.

The lounge has some great apron views, including the mobile lounges driving around!

If you continue along the glass, you’ll find a bar – which has any drinks you can imagine.

There is no business centre, and in fact this is a pretty small lounge!

Food and Drink

Food

I attended at 11am – and I was in sort of ‘no mans land’ for food. Neither breakfast, nor lunch!

There is an island self-served buffet which has some Turkish food, humus, some bread, as well as some fruit.

On a counter opposite there were some pastries – and sadly, that was about it!

Drinks

On the drinks side, you will find soft drinks are self-service from the fridges. Alternatively there is a full bar.

Wifi

I used the Wifi and found it to be pretty good.

Showers

There are two showers, but both of these were said to be out of order. Some may take the view this is an excuse used by lounges to save on costs! I’m starting to come round to that view myself!

Conclusion

This is a similar sized lounge to the BA Lounge in ‘Priority Mode’. The food was rather disappointing (I’ve heard good things about Turkish Airlines and their lounges), and it’s a small lounge. Compared to the BA lounge, it’s on par (less the rude staff).

However, there is a third lounge in Concourse B open to Priority Pass members – I’ll be reviewing this soon!
