Terminal B, LaGuardia Airport, New York

Introduction

This is my review of the Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge in LaGuardia’s Terminal B.

Opening Hours

The lounge is open daily from 05:30 to 22:00.

Entry Conditions

Access is generally available to Star Alliance Gold Members.

However, I was flying Business Class on United Airlines from LaGuardia to Washington.

I was refused access to the United Lounge, but granted access to this lounge! How this works, I don’t know!?

How to Get There

Having checked in at Terminal B and gone through Security, head for Gates 40 to 59.

Walk past the Centurion Lounge, and get to the Third Floor.

You should find the entrance to the lounge, just opposite the United Club.

Layout

This lounge has a great modern feel to it, and is light and airy.

Overlooking the concourse of the terminal there is a large amount of casual/lounge seating.

For eating, you’ll find a ‘restaurant’ area.

For working there is a work area, complete with printer and some computers.

Food and Drink

Drinks

All drinks in the lounge are self-service.

Given that it was 11:30, and I had suffered the trauma of being turned away from the United Club, I thought it was time for a half beer. However, the beer taps were off! I was told that the beer taps are available from 12:00, as was much of the other self-service alcohol.

Other drinks such as wine, soft drinks, etc were available – also self-served. For what it’s worth, I was impressed with the variety of drinks – other than the Lounge in Dublin, it’s rare to find an airline lounge serving Guinness!

Food

All food is self-served from the buffet. Given that it was 11:30, I was a little surprised at the offering – mostly salad!

I would have thought it may have been breakfast – but maybe 11:30 is past breakfast and not quite time for lunch?

There was also some cookies, nuts, crisps, etc.

Wifi

The Wifi worked for me, and was fairly good during my visit, I was getting around 33mps up and down.

Showers

There are no showers in this lounge, presumably because all flights leaving LGA are generally on smaller aircraft – thus most flights not being international………well……….I suppose Canada is technically international to America?

Conclusion

Whilst it was annoying to be turned away from the United Club, despite flying Business Class with them – I suspect this lounge is by far more superior.

Turning off the beer taps seemed a little odd, as did the choice of food – but for entirely domestic/short flights, this is a fairly decent lounge.

With that said, between this and the Centurion………..I prefer the Centurion!
