Terminal 2, Heathrow Airport, London
Last Visit: 23 May 2022 approx. 7am
Introduction
This is my review of the Lufthansa Lounge in Heathrow’s Terminal 2 (the Queen’s Terminal).
I was heading out on a flight to Lisbon, and was able to upgrade the flight for £87, which seemed not too bad, as I was very limited on time at the airport. Currently in Terminal 2, there is no lounge access for non-Star Alliance members since Plaza Premium Lounges have now cut ties with Priority Pass, although my Platinum Amex would have got me in.
I’ll be reviewing a few other Lounges in Terminal 2 shortly!
Entry Conditions
I am still getting my head around how Star Alliance’s policies work, however in essence;
- Flying Business Class or First Class grants access (no companion allowed)
- Star Alliance Gold Members in any class (with a companion, who has to be on the SAME flight)
- You can pay between €25 and €50 for access
There is also a separate Senator Lounge, which is open to Star Alliance Gold members, or passengers flying First Class.
I’m still getting my head around Star Alliance’s tiering – but it seems unlike BA whose lounge access starts at Silver, lounge access on Star Alliance is Gold and above.
Opening Times
The lounge is open daily between 05:00 and 22:00.
How to Get There
Rather simply, take a right out from security, talk all the way along the mezzanine level (Level 5) – and you’ll find it at the end!

Layout
Given Lufthansa’s fairly modest presence at Heathrow, it’s a rather sizable lounge!
After checking in at the Reception desk, there are a bunch of magazine racks, before you enter the main lounge.

Inside the main lounge, you’ll find a variety of seating – such as bar seating, lounge seating, café seating, etc. There is a large window, which offers perfect views of the goings on at the Airport.
(I don’t know what happened to my phone camera in the image below!)

I’m always on the lookout in lounges for good area to work and take calls – and this lounge was certainly set up for that! The lounge has some individual ‘pods’ perfect for making Zoom calls.

There are numerous desk spaces with stools and charging devices – and a printer/photocopier.

There is also a large ‘boardroom table’, perfect if you really want to hold a large meeting in an airline lounge!

Food and Drink
Food
Starting with the food – this was breakfast time, and I don’t really ‘do’ breakfast. However, there are hot food stations with the usual English Breakfast items. There are also bread, rolls, pastries – but curiously on this day no cheese/cold meats. Not very European!

On a separate station there is fruit, juices, muffins, granola, cereal, etc.

Drinks
On the drinks side – everything is self-service. There are a small but reasonable offering of wines, prosecco, and beers. There is also self-service soft drinks.

Wifi
The team checking in did not explain how to use the Wifi, and because I was limited on time, I didn’t use it. However, many other users of the lounge were making Zoom calls and so forth.
Showers
There are no showers in this lounge!
Conclusion
Given Lufthansa’s relatively modest number of flights to Heathrow, it is surprising they would see the investment in having such a large lounge in Heathrow – or any lounge at all!
However, the lounge was quiet, the food fairly wide-ranging – and there were plenty of places to work.
This was a nice place to be – but I’m also looking forward to exploring what other Star Alliance lounges T2 has to offer in due course!
