LHR Heathrow – Terminal 2 – Singapore Airlines SilverKris Lounge – Airline Lounge Review (Star Alliance)

Terminal 2, Heathrow Airport

Introduction

This is my review of the Singapore Airlines Lounge in Heathrow’s Terminal 2.  

I’d heard very good things about the Singapore Airlines lounge, so was keen to explore it!

Entry Conditions

This Lounge is available to Star Alliance Gold Members and passengers traveling in Business Class (or higher) with either Singapore Airlines – or other Star Alliance partners.

At Heathrow’s Terminal 2, entry could be for passengers traveling on Singapore Airlines, United or Air Canada from the B-Zone – or if you fancied the walk TAP, Swiss, Lufthansa, etc who fly from A-Gates.  

Opening Times

The lounge is open daily from 05:30 to 22:00.

How to Get There

The lounge is situated in B-Zone for Terminal 2, which means if your flight is from A-zone it will be walk of around 15 to 20 minutes each way, officially. In reality, I’ve done it in about 8 minutes!  

With that said, this and the Air Canada and United lounges are by far superior to the Lufthansa lounge in A-Zone – so I recommend that the walk is well worth it if you have enough time!

Having gone through Security, take the escalators down to the Departures level.   

As you’re looking at the big glass in front of you, on the left of the terminal is the walkway to B-Zone.

Once you’re at B-Zone, take the escalators up to the Departures floor – look left and you’ll see door signposted for the Air Canada and Singapore Airlines lounges.

You’ll then go up some elevators, turn right and you’ll see it!

Layout

The general layout is that of casual seating and dining seating.

The décor is really nice, modern and light – I was very impressed!

As you walk in, you’ll find on the immediate left the dining area – or carrying straight on will take you to the bar area.

The bar area has a variety of seating – including ‘throne chairs’ looking out over the airport.

There is also what I’d describe as an ‘overflow area’.

There are also a few ‘pods’ to work from – though they’re not as private as other offerings, such as the United Lounge.

Food and Drink

At the time that I was in the lounge, it spanned across breakfast and lunch.

Food

On the food side, there is a variety of self-served options. I’m not exactly sure what is considered a Singapore breakfast, but most of the options were chicken, noodles and rice. I’m certainly not complaining, as I don’t ‘do breakfast’ – so chicken, noodles and rice was very appealing!

There is also self-served yogurts and healthy stuff.

However, if you prefer something more traditional you can scan a QR code and get a food menu. On todays menu was;

• Western breakfast
• Vegetarian breakfast
• Bacon roll   

I stuck to the self-serve options, which were pretty good!

For lunch the menu was different. Again, on the self-serve options there was pasta, meatballs and noodles.

The lunch menu via the App had two options;

• Sticky Korean chicken sliders
• Breaded scampi

I went for the slider burger, and it was good. Admittedly, it looked like it had come from a frozen food shop – but it was very refreshing to have burger and fries in an airport lounge!  

Additionally, there was now a stocked freezer of ice creams and other treats.

Since it was Wimbledon, the lounge had gone to town on a nice display.

Drinks

On the drinks side, there is a large fridge with soft drinks, beers cookies, etc – next to it are coffee machines.

However, if you fancy something more bespoke, there is a bar. To my delight they had Tiger on tap! Top marks!

Wifi

Wifi was available in the lounge, but for me, I found it a bit on and off. Either way, you can’t order food via QR code without being connected to it!

Showers

Showers are available in this lounge and are of excellent quality! I didn’t use them, but they looked high-end.  

Conclusion

Compared to the United Lounge this lounge is fairly modest in size, but I am not sure how prime Heathrow is as a route for Singapore Airlines – but what it makes up for in size, it easily replaces in quality!

I was highly impressed with this lounge, and it’s certainly one of my (ever growing list of) favourites at Heathrow!
