Introduction

This is my review of the ANA Lounge at Lisbon International Airport.

I was traveling back from Lisbon to London for business and decided to use my Priority Pass to pay the lounge a visit with a colleague.

Seemingly, at the moment (at least) there are only two lounges open at Lisbon’s capital airport – this lounge and the TAP Portugal Premium Lounge, which I have reviewed separately.

Entry Conditions

The the ANA Lounge seems to be a joint-venture style of lounge.

It is open to both Skyteam (Delta, KLM, ANA, Latam, etc), OneWorld (BA, American, Qatar, FinnAir, etc), and also Priority Pass customers – and possibly other types of lounge pass schemes.   

Opening Times

The lounge is open daily between 06:00 and 22:00.

How to Get There

Taking a walk trough the Food Court at Terminal 1, you will some escalators and clearly marked signs for the lounges. Follow these, and the ANA Lounge is the first at the top of the escalators.

Layout

Firstly, one nice feature of the lounge is it overlooks the runway – so plenty of action to see!

As you take a walk from the check in desk, you will immediately strikingly designed dark + mirror seating area with coffee tables – along with sports on screens.

On the left you will see a café seating area with soft drinks and work stations.

Take a right, there is a rather dramatic change in style to something sauna like! Here you’ll find the smoking room – if the need is required.

Beyond the smoking room you’ll find some ‘sleep pods’. As I’d been up at 4am the previous day with a late finish, and I’d also started this day early – I took full advantage!

Moving towards the huge glass window, on the right you’ll see some nice seating with footstools overlooking the runway.

On the left, there is more café seating, with a bar and self-serve buffet.  

Food and Drink

Food

Starting with the food……..I can keep this short. It was sandwiches, and a few self-service bits of fruit, cake, etc. Really nothing to write home about. In fact – given the international routes that fly from Portugal (ie USA, Qatar, etc) I thought for a dinner service this was pretty poor! Nothing hot at all!

In many respects, it is surprising the food was so poor given the prestige of Qatar Airways’ other global lounges.

Drinks

On the drinks side, things were much better. A full bar service was available, with a more than enthusiastic bar tender – and self-serve beers and soft drinks. Perhaps, predictably, these were all local Portuguese lagers and beers.

Wifi

Wifi seemed pretty good! My colleague needed to download some work files which were large in size and found it fairly easy to do so!

Showers

This lounge did have showers, which seemingly need to be booked. I didn’t intend on showering before my short flight to London, so I didn’t get any pictures.

However, I understand there is only 1 shower – which may be less than ideal when you have a lounge full of Delta and/or American passengers off to the USA early in the morning!

Conclusion

This lounge is full of areas and ‘find and explore’ places – and it has two rather distinctly different styles.

Although I didn’t see any ANA planes, I guess at some point ANA (a Japanese airline) do use the lounge, and usually as flights to Asia leave in the evening – it’s likely lounge users would be using it around the time of my visit – and I’m really not sure the F&B offering would be good enough!

The lounge in many regards is very good and well thought out – it was busy, but plenty of seating available.

However, at 7pm (my flight was 8:15pm) – I would expect there to be substantially better varieties of food – and something hot! Accordingly, I’d be interested to see the food offering at peak times for Delta, ANA, American and Qatar Airways customers!
