Introduction

London’s Heathrow Airport (LHR), despite its modest size, has a huge variety of excellent airline/airport lounges. I have visited most of the OneWorld, Star Alliance and Priority Pass Lounges and have put together a summary of those lounges and the access for them.

Lounges such as the Cathay Pacific, Singapore Airlines and United’s Polaris Lounge absolutely excellent in Heathrow!

An important note is that unlike other airports in the world (for example Singapore), its close to impossible to connect airside between terminals – so sadly you’ll only be able to visit the lounges in the terminal you fly from.

Terminal 1

Alas, there is no Terminal 1 at Heathrow any more! If you’re looking for a lounge here, you’ve bigger problems to worry about!

Terminal 2

Star Alliance Lounges

Terminal 2 is predominantly Heathrow’s Star Alliance Terminal, it’s worth noting that the better Star Alliance lounges (in my opinion) are actually located at the Satellite Terminal, which is about 15 minutes walk away.

Priority Pass and American Express

  • Plaza Premium Lounge – available to those who hold a Priority Pass or American Express Platinum Card, and various other cards

OneWorld/Misc Category

  • Aer Lingus Lounge – available to those who hold are Aer Lingus membership, flying Business Class with Aer Lingus, or have OneWorld Emerald status on an BA code-share

Terminal 3

Terminal 3 is a slight mixed bag of airlines – mostly with mostly OneWorld, SkyTeam and Emirates flights departing. In this terminal, everything is in one building – and there are some great lounges here!

OneWorld Lounges

  • American Airlines Flagship Lounge/Admirals Club – available to those flying First Class or Business Class with any OneWorld airline or OneWorld Emerald or OneWorld Sapphire members
  • American Airlines Arrivals Lounge – available to those who have flown First Class or Business Class with any OneWorld airline or OneWorld Emerald or OneWorld Sapphire members
  • British Airways Galleries Lounge – available to those flying First Class or Business Class with any OneWorld airline or OneWorld Emerald or OneWorld Sapphire members
  • Cathay Pacific Lounge – available to those flying First Class or Business Class with any OneWorld airline or OneWorld Emerald or OneWorld Sapphire members
  • Qantas Lounge – available to those flying First Class or Business Class with any OneWorld airline or OneWorld Emerald or OneWorld Sapphire members

American Express Lounges

Priority Pass Lounges

  • No1 Lounge – available to Priority Pass holders

Terminal 4

If Terminal 3 is a ‘bit’ of a mixed bag of airlines, Terminal 4 is complete mixed bag! Terminal is in theory the Terminal for Skyteam airlines – however some OneWorld airlines also operate from Terminal 4, as do many airlines without any alliances.

OneWorld Lounges

  • Qatar Airways Premium Lounge – available to those who are flying First Class or Business Class with Qatar Airways, who have a ticket with lounge access included
  • Qatar Airways Frequent Flyer Lounge – available to those flying First Class or Business Class with any OneWorld airline or OneWorld Emerald or OneWorld Sapphire members

Priority Pass and American Express

  • Plaza Premium Lounge – available to those who hold a Priority Pass or American Express Platinum Card, and various other cards

Terminal 5

Terminal 5 is British Airways’ Terminal…..in theory! Currently British Airways and Iberia operate from Terminal 5 (as well as BA also operating from Terminal 3). Definitely worth checking your tickets to see which Terminal your BA flight operates from – as it’s not even as simple as a Long/Short haul split!

Like Terminal 2, Terminal 5 has two satellites B-Gates and C-Gates (A-Gates being in the main terminal building), there only a lounge at B-Gates. Again always worth checking which Gate your flight is leaving from – as getting from B-Gates back to A-Gates isn’t that simple!

OneWorld Lounges

  • The Concorde Room – available to those flying First Class with British Airways airline or British Airways Gold Guest List members
  • BA Galleries First – available to those flying First Class with any OneWorld airline or OneWorld Emerald members
  • BA Galleries North – available to those flying First Class or Business Class with any OneWorld airline or OneWorld Emerald or OneWorld Sapphire members
  • BA Galleries South – available to those flying First Class or Business Class with any OneWorld airline or OneWorld Emerald or OneWorld Sapphire members
  • BA Galleries at B-Gates – available to those flying First Class or Business Class with any OneWorld airline or OneWorld Emerald or OneWorld Sapphire members

Priority Pass and American Express

  • Plaza Premium Lounge – available to those who hold a Priority Pass or American Express Platinum Card, and various other cards
  • Club Aspire – available to those who hold a Priority Pass or American Express Platinum Card, and various other cards [in over 100 flights from Terminal 5, I’ve never been able to get in here due to queues!]
