Terminal 2, Munich Airport (Flughafen München), Germany

Based on Visit: 10 July 2022 approximately 20:00 to 20:30

Introduction

This is my review of the Lufthansa Business Lounge Terminal 2, Gate K13.

This review is based on a trilogy of airlines to get me to and from Brussels – I was connecting in Munich having landed from Brussels, and was en route to Heathrow.

Seemingly, K-Gates have entirely Schengen flights transiting – so this is more of a ‘European’ Lounge than an international one.

As I detail in my review of the flight back to London, this was a rather tight connection, so I didn’t have a huge amount of time in this Lounge.

Entry Conditions

As far as I am aware entry is only for either customers traveling in Business Class, or Star Alliance Gold members.

There is also a Senator Lounge attached to this Lounge – but I didn’t have access.

Opening Times

The lounge is open daily from 05:00 to 22:00.

How to Get There

This I am not entirely sure about if you’re coming from Security!

Connecting, my flight from Brussels landed at K20 – it was a left turn here, and just opposite K13 is the entrance to the Lounge.

Layout

The lounge is fairly big in size, and had a variety of places to eat, sit and work. Unfortunately, there didn’t appear anywhere to sleep (not that I had time)!

One quite interesting feature, is a ‘TV zone’ around a fire that wasn’t a fire – instead it had TV’s around it. This zone has walling around it, meaning it was very quiet.

There is plenty of café seating for eating and drinking – but it was a fairly busy lounge, even on a Sunday evening!

There was an impressive range of the world’s newspapers and magazines available – something of a rarity these days!

My favourite feature about the Lounge is that it has a lot of ‘pods’ – perfect for working and taking calls. However, due to it being a Sunday night and the lounge being fairly busy – some of these ‘pods’ had been taken over by people eating there.

Each ‘pod’ features variety of charging sockets, privacy screens – and a very large printer! Horrah!

If you want to have some privacy on calls or when working – there is also a fairly private ‘phone box’ which has a stool and table, with similar charging sockets. However, there are only two of these.

Food and Drink

Drinks

In this Lounge all of the drinks are self-served.

There are beer taps with German beers, and also a separate station for wines and prosecco.

The tea and coffee is also self-service – and interestingly had the spirits on a shelf next to it!

Food

Food was also self-served, and there was a menu of;

  • Asparagus Soup
  • Solijanka
  • Cheese Noodles (in reality, this was Mac and Cheese)
  • Pepper Chicken
  • Rice Pudding
  • Curry Jaipur

Along with the hot food were buffet stations with bread, and modest amounts of cheeses and fruit.

Surprisingly for Germany, the food seemed OK – and close to better than the TAP Lounge, which I visited recently!

There is also a sweet bar!

Wifi

Given my short visit to this Lounge, I didn’t get to use the Wifi.

Showers

There are showers available in this lounge – at a guess, I’d say 5. I didn’t use them, but they looked pretty clean and good in quality. However, no Amenities Kits were offered.

Conclusion

I’m minded that this Lounge is predominantly for Lufthansa’s connections, and other Star Alliance carriers in the Schengen zone – so may a ‘notch down’ to their international offering.

With that said, I’d say this is a pretty good Lounge with plenty of different areas – and the food wasn’t too bad either, for Germany!

I’d be happy return!
