Introduction
This is my review of Sri Lankan Airlines’ Business Class seat, offered on their A320.
Seemingly, Sri Lankan offer three types of Business Class seat across their A320, A330-200 and A330-300.
In the case of this seat, it’s not a lay flat bed – but more of a recliner, which is understandable given the limited sized of the A320.
The Layout
Business Class in the A320 are in 2-2 format. Unfortunately, this means for bathroom breaks, you’ll need to step over your neighbours feet!
I have sat in both seats 1A and 3A on Srilankan’s A320, and ostensibly they are the same.
Being frank, whilst the seat is colourful, it does look a bit tired and dated.
Privacy
Unfortunately, there is no privacy to be found here!
The Seat
The seat itself is comfortable for sitting, but I’m not sure about working.
The seat offers two functions; one is a recliner, the other is a footrest. Both of these are operated by ‘old school’ silver buttons (not motors!), and there is limited adjustment to these.
On the foot stool, there is an ‘optional’ footrest (it either unfolds, or doesn’t). I found this to be slightly annoying as it was touching the back of my ankles, and I couldn’t get comfortable.
Whilst the seat does not lay completely flat, it does recline enough for napping!
Table
Whether you are sitting in the front row or with seats in front of you, the tables are the same.
The tables are deployed from the side arm rests, and unfortunately are fairly bendy. It was for this reason I didn’t venture into doing any work on my laptop!
Storage
Whether you are sitting at the front (1A), or with seats in front of you (3A) – there is no useful storage.
There are pockets in front of the seat, but there is nothing else for phones or laptops, etc. That said, I have distinct feeling phones and laptops may not have been in existence when this seat was made!
Charging/Power
Sadly, another pitfall for this seat is the charging. There is only UK/Euro/US sockets, and USB’s. Again, I have the feeling USB may not have been invented when this seat came into service!
Air Circulation
On the A320’s I flew, I did find there were nozzles over the seats for temperature control.
Conclusion
These kinds of seats suit perfectly the range of the A320. They don’t go too that far and for a 3 or 4 hour flight, they are comfortable.
That said, the lack of charging and bendy table is slightly annoying – but not necessarily a gamechanger. Just make sure you bring a variety of cables and adaptors with you!
