Terminal A, Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport (SJC)

Introduction

Here’s my review of my visit to ‘the Club’ which is located at San Jose Airport next to gate A15. I was flying to Los Angeles, however there is no Admirals Club in San Jose despite being on a flight in First Class – so I chose to use my Priority Pass instead.

There are ‘The Club’ lounges at Gate A8 and A15 of San Jose’s Airport, but A8 is currently closed, due to Covid (presumably).

Entry Conditions

Access to The Club lounge can be via Priority Pass, Diners Club, Lounge Key and AAA Discount Rewards – or an entry fee of $45.

There may be other Lounge Pass partners, but the website isn’t clear which.

Opening Times

The lounge is open daily between 05:00 and 22:00.

How to Get There

As the name would suggest, the A15 lounge is next to Gate 15. This is left hand turn from Security and head down to A15. Then it’s up in an elevator and you’re there!  

Layout

After I checked in at the main desk (the gentleman who served me was very friendly!) there are two sort of parallel lounges.

The first area is more of a work station, which has desks, booths, a printer and some lounge seating – this overlooks the runway.

The second area is more dining seating, with a bar at the end, and a buffet.

Food and Drink

Food

I think it’s fair to say there is a very modest buffet, which is served by a server.

When I visited, it was breakfast time and on offer was fruit, cereals, muffins, porridge (steele to Americans), and some very limited cooked options.

Personally, the food options were pretty underwhelming, as far as I was concerned – and I’d be interested to see the lunch/dinner options available.

Drinks

There is a soda fountain, and a bar at the end of one of the lounge sections. There are basic drinks, and a pay for bar if you want to go ‘premium’.

Wifi

Wifi was pretty good. I was easily connected and had good speed for everything I wanted to do.

Showers

Unfortunately, due to Covid, the showers were closed. This appears to be a blanket rule in the State of California! But I will keep trying!

Conclusion

In my view, this is a nice clean lounge for somewhere to go for a few hours if making a connection or checking in early – provided the check in desks are actually open!

Entry to the lounge is great and very useful with a Priority Pass or Diners Club card. However, the lack of showers (I’m mindful this is dictated by State Law) and the limited breakfast, don’t make it worth paying $45 for entry, in my opinion.
