Introduction

This is my review of the Swiss Air Alpine Lounge.

Having previously visited the Swiss Air Business Class Lounge, where I couldn’t find a seat – I was advised that the Alpine Lounge was quieter.

The good news is that it was a LOT quieter, and I was happy to spend time here – and similarly to the Business Class Lounge it also has really nice décor.  

Entry Conditions

This Lounge is available to Star Alliance Gold Members and passengers traveling in Business Class with either Swiss Air – or other Star Alliance partners.

Unlike the Swiss Business Class Lounge there is no Senator Lounge attached to the Alpine Lounge.

Opening Times

The lounge is open daily from 06:00 to 22:00.

How to Get There

Zurich Airport seems to be a bit of a mess of Terminals and Gates, which I really can’t get my head around!

Assuming you’ve found the Swiss Business Class Lounge, take an immediate right, go down the escalators, sort of double back on yourself – and you’ll find the entrance.

Layout

One point I couldn’t help but notice, is again, there didn’t seem to be any elevator access to the lounge – and it’s up a spiral staircase.

Whilst I don’t mind a walk with my bag – I can see that it wouldn’t be easy if you’re trying to negotiate luggage!

This lounge had a very chilled atmosphere – it was almost empty (unliked the rammed Business Lounge), and the décor was super nice.

The lounge has plenty of casual seating, and also dining seating.  

There are also ‘pods’ to work from and do calls in, all of these were empty during my visit.

It’s not the biggest of lounges – but for its size it was a nice difference from the other (much bigger) lounge, which was rammed.

Food and Drink

Drinks

On the drinks side, everything is self-service.

There is a selection of different spirits, sodas and a beer tap. There is also a modest selection of wines available.

Food

Different to the Business Lounge, there was salad deli which appeared to (sometimes) offer a custom pizza service.

This wasn’t in action when I visited – instead, it was a small menu of;

• Haselback Potato
• Swiss Alpine Macaroni
• Various toppings

Similar to the Business Lounge there was breadbasket, cheeses, cold meats and fruit available.

One thing that made this lounge unique was a large wall of self-service sweets, nuts, crisps, etc – I thought it was a nice feature!

In some ways I thought this lounge appeared better food wise than the Business Class Lounge – although with a few less hot options.

Wifi

I didn’t track down any Wifi, and I was working ‘offline’, so didn’t to use the internet to do what I was doing.  

Showers

I believe this lounge offers no Showers.

Conclusion

This is a great little lounge, and I was very surprised how quiet it was when the other lounge was full to bursting.

Knowing this lounge exists (and in many ways is better than the Business Class lounge) is a great little hack I’ll keep in mind!
